Proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom

Walking over the Fells (500ft) to Kendal

It’s been very wet and cold today, but we made it to Kendal!

Good job we received a new wheel for the cross which came yesterday!!! the old one  was literally falling  apart.

Mike Castle hasn’t been to well today! Thanks for all your prayers for him, he’s feeling a bit better. He has done a marvelous job and has been a great encouragement to me. Mike C  goes home tomorrow, thanks Mike for everything, especially the poached eggs and bacon!

I had a jeep slowly following behind me today before turning into a field, and 10min later two farm workers ran to catch up. These two young guys were so open and interested as I shared the gospel. Then I said,” So what dyou make of that then?” They looked abit stunned like they’d never heard it quite like that! I Know now when a seed has genuinely been planted! This is exciting to me.

Here’s a picture of the old wheel.

Teenage lads receive Jesus Christ

At Penrith

  • I have prayed for many on this walk so far, and today the Lord lead me to a man on the anniversary of his son’s death. These are precious opportunities.
  • I met two teenage lads in a village called Hackthorpe, they were really up for talking. Their R.E. teacher had obviously laid a good foundation, they knew that Jesus died on the cross and that it was for everyone’s sin. So I talked to them about knowing God personally and it wasn’t long before both of them were ready to open their hearts to receive Christ. One of the lads called Aiden who was 14, after he had prayed to receive Christ, said, and I quote “wow, that was powerful”. His mate called Reigan had a big beaming smile and both of them didn’t want to move from the spot.
    God you are amazing!

Carlisle

‘Behold a sower went out to sow’ – Mark 4:3

While arriving in Carlisle I was in need of a hot drink, for previously I had been rained upon again. A guy on a bike stopped who was a staff member of the local OM base, he said that he felt privileged to have met me and gave me £5 to get myself a hot drink.

A little later on I also found a £5 note on the ground.

  • Lots of really good opportunities in Carlisle city centre today, I spoke to lots of teenagers, some really quality seeds sown.
  • A group of young lads, about twelve years old came over to me with lots of questions, and after a brilliant chance to explain the cross they took bundles of tracts and gave them out in seconds! I could never have done it so well myself. They scattered the seed broad and wide.
  • Walking out of the city, I walked up behind a huge muscle-bound bloke called Keith, like the Incredible Hulk! As I walked up behind him, the Holy Spirit spoke to me about this guy. That he had Christian parents who were praying for him because he was far from God. When he turned around and saw me with the cross, he was surprised and laughed, and then he said he didn’t believe that Jesus was real, his tone was now a bit angry and cold. After a while he said his father was a reverend, and I said I knew that, because God had already told me, and also they were worried about him and praying hard for him. He said “this is not happening”, then he went very quiet and didn’t say another word as we walked along together. God is on his case!

St Andrew’s Annan and Brydekirk Parish Churches

Tonight we had mike and co. with us for dinner. We really enjoyed his visit and hearing about all he has been doing while walking from Glasgow. It has been such a blessing to chat and hear of God working through the team. I particularly enjoyed some time that we had together talking about vision and distinctiveness.

Elim – Castle Douglas

“It was great to have Mike with us today, he brought the ‘now’ word of the Lord. our fellowship was encouraged and challenged and most importantly responded to the wake up call for our nation right now!”

More to come

Due to a lack of signal for getting online, Mike will be updating the blog tomorrow.

Castle Douglas and home

I write this from seat 20a on coach J of the Virgin Train to Euston.

Today started with a new member of the team, Mike Castle from Ipswich. After a hearty breakfast of duck eggs, bacon and some weird shaped sausage, we headed down to the Elim church in Castle Douglas, lead by Pastor Mike Smith.

As it was my last day, I walked with the cross into town with the pastor’s son David, who is also joining Mike for a few days.

Mike preached a good message on Davids mighty men, and virtually the whole church responded. Mike prayed for a woman with a congenital heart disease which affected her spine and a collapsed lung, She experienced heat runnning right the way through her body. Mike asked her if there is anything she couldn’t do, and she said she couldn’y walk more than a few steps without needing a rest. Straight after prayer she walked with the

pastors wife up and down the road outside the church. When she came back she said she felt completely different and was going to go for a futher walk with her husband. Glory to You Jesus!

After the meeting, David and myself headed out of the town back to where the motorhome was parked carrying the cross. We were able to sow seeds and had some great conversations with people on the way. Outside one of the pubs was a group of people who took great interest in what we were doing, I was able to give a bit of testimony about what God had done in my life and that Jesus himself wanted to know them personally. One guy in particular was really interested in what we had to say, and I pray that the tract he took from us will give him the answers he is looking for.

So there it is. God has done so much this last week, and not just in my life but in the lifes of all the people that we have met along the way. It has been a great privelege to work with Mike and a time that I will not forget in a hurry. I pray that God will continue to give favour and blessing to this ministry and that MANY will come to Christ as a result of it.

Salvation in Morrisons Car Park

Scorcher of a day today, always a good thing to bring people out!

Not sure where to start. I walked on the main road for a lot of today and had cars wait in laybys to talk. I get to lean through the drivers window and pray for passengers quite a lot!

I spoke to some lads in Dumfries town, they were about the 13yrs bracket. Such a fantastic time sharing the gospel with them. It was like being in a classroom as they asked questions about Jesus. One lad, God gave me a real heart for at first was a bit skeptical, but he couldn’t walk away and even though his mates had moved on he was fixed to the spot! I’ve experienced this a few times. What a privilege to witness God sow a permanent seed in their lives.PTL

Some older lads later shouting stuff from over the other side of road, bumped into us again later. once again this age group – 18+ after hearing how far we walking with the cross were then prepared to hear us out.PTL

In Morrisons car park, a man mistook me for someone he knew. This gave me a great opportunity to tell him what we were doing and give him a gospel track. While Jon was getting ready to fuel up I noticed the guy sit in his rather nice silver Mazda and begin to read the tract. I hovered until he finished and then asked if it spoke to him in anyway. We had a really good chat and I knew early on this was going somewhere!
When I asked him if he wanted to receive Jesus Christ as his Saviour, he paused and then said yes!!!!!!! After he repented and invited Christ into his heart, I then prayed for Him to receive the Holy Spirit. Wow, I could feel God tangibly on him, amazing stuff! He said that he felt something touch him, an amazing peace and like a heavy weight lifted off him. Please pray for Chris.

Please pray that our feet be shod with the readiness to preach the gospel and that we are sensitive to the Spirit’s lead. Jon goes home tomorrow sad to say, he’s been brilliant! Thanks Jon, great driving, great fooooood & a great heart!

Duck Eggs and Bacon

Mike rang me after passing a farm that was selling its own produce, thinking it would be good to eat fresh.
On turning into the driveway I was greeted by a field of rare breed pigs and two emu’s named Rocky and Mavis. As I continued up the drive into the yard, I was further greeted by 2 dogs, sheep, cows, horses and a lama!
Meanwhile, Mike is walking 16 miles through a wilderness.
I got out of the motor home and made my way up to the farmhouse, where I was greeted by farmers wife Gill. I noticed her arms were covered with blood, “don’t worry” she said, “I haven’t killed the children, I’ve been lambing”.
While purchasing some duck eggs and bacon, I asked if she knew of somewhere we could park up for the evening. She offered for us to stay there and said we could also hook up to her electricity and get ourselves a shower.
Mike was over the moon when I told him because of the mandate of Luke chapter 10: when homes are opened to us, especially non-christian homes.
Then we really get to bring Heaven!
While setting up the the electrics on the motorhome, to Mikes delight, I was spat at by a lama.
Before we left this morning, we asked if we could pray for them, this was amazing!
Mike told them that because they had blessed us and made room for us, now God was going to bless them. So we prayed for Mark, Gill and their farm, and for Gill to be healed.
Afterwards they looked a bit shell shocked (in a positive way). PTL.
‘Please open up more homes like this Lord’

Jon Cook – 09:15am, Saturday 9th April

“Richard walks on his own”

Don’t worry Mike’s not injured or unwell but it’s part of the training!!!

Right from the beginning I was approached by a retired miner, I told him the gospel and asked him if he believed it, “oh aye” he said, and I prayed for him, that God would reveal Himself as his personal saviour.

We had a word that people would be drawn to the cross, and I saw that happen again and again today as I walked. People seemed excited about the message we are bringing, and not just about the walk from Glasgow to Chester.

I walked 15 miles alone, but not alone, at times intimacy with God was easy as I walked on a winding road through the hills. at other times it was digging in and trying to keep the mind focus. I practiced my preaching on the sheep.

Sadly, I go home tonight, but  grateful for the chance to go it alone, when there is no one to hide behind. I have found a new boldness!!
